Licensed Professional Counselor
Sharon West-Rogers a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), National Certified Counselor (NCC), and Certified Pastoral Counselor with over 15 years experience in working with children and adults. Sharon earned a master’s degree in Professional Counseling and Pastoral Counseling with a specialization in Crisis Response and Trauma from Liberty University and Doctor of Christian Counseling candidate at Andersonville Theological Seminary. Her undergraduate work was completed at The University of Alabama in Psychology and Biology. Sharon is a Registered Play Therapist (RPT) certified by Association for Play Therapy demonstrating extensive play therapy knowledge and training for working with children as young as age three. Sharon has training and certifications in Trauma focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), CBT, Grief counseling, Play therapy, Filial Family therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Sharon earned post graduate Play therapy certificate from Capella University and additional Filial Therapy instruction at IDEALS Professional training center in Frankfort, Kentucky. She is an ADHD Certified Clinical Services Provider (ADHD-CCSP) for adults and children diagnosed with ADHD. Sharon has served as an Intensive Family Intervention supervisor working with families in crisis and children who have experienced significant trauma.
Sharon enjoys working with individuals who are struggling with depression and anxiety, spiritual issues, and relationship issues. Sharon is passionate about children and adolescents who have been exposed to traumatic life events and displaying behaviors which may reflect adaptive attempts to cope with difficult or challenging experiences.
Along with CBT, she uses a play therapy and relational approach to help children struggling with anxiety, self-esteem and self-worth, behavioral issues, oppositional defiance, anger management and parental-child relational challenges. Sharon is a published author of Complete In Your Singleness-Becoming Whole Before Marriage, and workshop and conference presenter on topics related to single parenting, dating and relationships. Sharon is a member of American Association of Christian Counseling (AACC), Licensed Professional Counselors Association of Georgia (LPCAGA) and Association for Play Therapy (APT) and Children and Adults with Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (CHADD).
